Hydrotox Laboratory for Ecotoxicology and Water Protection will participate in UMWELT 2026, the joint annual conference of SETAC-GLB and the GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, and will also contribute to the program: In a presentation, Marie Canon, Head of Biodegradation and Ecotoxicology Testing, will report on the "Schwammstadt" (Sponge City) research project and the ecotoxicological assessment of construction products (A3.5), and a poster will present findings on the biodegradability and ecotoxicity of biocide-free antifouling coatings from the BioShip project (P5.6).

ICMCF 2026 - the 21st International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling (ICMCF) - will take place this summer from 26-31 July 2026, in Berlin. Since its inaugural edition in France in 1964, the ICMCF has established itself as the leading international forum for scientific exchange on fouling and corrosion in the maritime sector. Over the decades, the congress has traveled the globe, bringing together researchers and experts from academia and industry. This unique mix fosters fruitful dialogue, strengthens collaboration, and supports the development of long-term professional relationships. True to this tradition, the upcoming ICMCF offers a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary program that presents the latest findings on biofouling and corrosion as well as innovative approaches to their prevention. The conference is organized by Fraunhofer IFAM, one of Europe’s leading research institutions in the field of applied materials science and surface technology.

Again with strong participation from the DR. BRILL INSTITUTES Group, the SETAC Europe 36th Annual Meeting will take place in Maastricht from May 17-21, 2026, under the theme "Embrace the Outlier: In Science, Regulations, and Networks." Dr. Brill Regulatory Services GmbH and Hydrotox GmbH will both be involved, both in terms of personnel and content – and, following last year's great success, we will once again have our own exhibition stand!

The 18th DGKH Congress for General and Hospital Hygiene (18. Kongress für Allgemeine und Krankenhaushygiene) will take place in Berlin from April 26 to 29, 2026. Our institute will be represented at the congress this year with the following contributions and individuals:

"Clinical study on the influence of regular use of alcohol-based hand rubs on the skin microbiome" is the title of the poster that Dr. Florian H. H. Brill will present at ESCMID Global 2026 - the Congress of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. ESCMID Global is the largest international gathering of clinical microbiologists and infectious disease specialists and will take place this year from April 17-21, 2026, in Munich. In mid-January, DR. BRILL INSTITUTES will be represented at the 10th International Conference on Polar and Alpine Microbiology. Dr. Florian H. H. Brill and Masumeh Kashiri are in Copenhagen, and Masumeh Kashiri will give a presentation there on 15 January 2026, at 2:30 p.m. entitled: “Pathogenicity-Related Traits in Bacteria from the Stubai Glacier.”

The "Maritime Technologies 2025" status conference includes selected contributions on successful projects from the Maritime Research Program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Energie, BMWE) and is organized by Projektträger Jülich on behalf of the BMWE. The conference will be held in German on 10 + 11 December 2025, at the Mercure Hotel MOA Berlin, exclusively in person. Participation is free of charge.

On December 9, 2025, the third edition of the 2025 Online Update on Hygiene and Infection Prevention will take place, focusing on diagnostics. We are pleased to announce that Elena Perabo (Study Director Ecotoxicology, Hydrotox) will be a speaker at this year's Biocides Europe. The renowned conference will take place on December 1–2, 2025, in Vienna, Austria, bringing together leading experts from industry, science, and regulatory authorities to discuss the latest developments in biocide regulation and research.
